The famous Palace was built by Cooch Raj Maharaj Nripendra Narayan in the year 1887. The construction was inspired by European culture. The palace is highly maintained still now. You will love to come back here again and again. In the evening you will get to see the mesmerizing view of the palace in the light. It seems like a dream.
Accept Cooch Behar Palace there are a lot of other places to visit like the House of Madan Mohan, Sagardighi, Eco Heritage Park, Victor palace, kamoteshwari Kalibari, etc. Sagardighi is at the heart of the town and also the heart of the town. If you wish to stay there then you have to provide your photo ID proof to get permission. One of the famous festivals of Bengal RashJatra is celebrated centering Shyama-Rai. People from faraway places join to celebrate this traditional festival and the fair.
If you have time enough then you can also visit Roshik Bil, Buxa, Jayanti, Chilapatar jungle. To get some touch of a foreign trip, you can easily visit Phuntsholing (in Bhutan) from there. When you cross the gateway of Bhutan by Joygaon then you can feel that you become a foreigner in a foreign land altogether.
The train journey is the best way to go to Cooch Behar. Your destination station will be New Cooch Behar or Alipurduar and then you have to take an auto or car to reach the town. You can choose accommodation as per your budget and choice in the town.
