Tumling

A way to Sandakphu

NDTA-House

If you want to spend some leave, Tumling is the right place for you. It is best to reserve a car from Siliguri/ NJP to Manebhanjang. You can enjoy the beauty of the road trip and spend some time wherever you want. Share car is available here but it is too much time taking. For your kind information right now it is not permitted to ride after Manebhanjang after 2PM. Manebhanjang is right now the gateway to Singalila National Park and Sandakphu. From my personal experience, I suggest you stay a night at a nearby village named Khopidhara. It has many advantages. After a long journey your body and mind need some rest and you can prepare yourself for the chilling wind of Tumling.
The distance between Siliguri/ NJP to Manebhanjang is 85 km. From Manebhanjang you have to book a car from "Singalila Landrover Association" to Tumling and get permission by showing your photo identity card. The distance to Tumling from here is 12 km. and the entire road is made of concrete. The road is sometimes between the thick forests of pine and sometimes between the mountain villages. We have to reach Tumling via Chitre, Lodhma, Meghma, and Tonglu. Again photo identity card and permission letter have to be shown to register your name at Meghma. Getting up to 2 km from Tonglu will wonder you that how would you cover so long journey in so short time. At the end of the road you will see a green valley on your left hand side and a long stretch of the peaks on the other side of the road. Kanchanjangha calls you with all its beauty. Every peak will be seen clearly. Cleared view and the view obstructed by clouds are going to happen the whole day. This enjoying situation never ever leaves you in boredom.

If you want you can spend some time in the local temple. You will feel peace in mind. Wherever you go, the cold and chilling wind will haunt you. In winter some ice will be found. Another contrast of nature can be seen. In the Indian part, there is a green slope otherwise in the Nepal part it is very dry and rough.
There are some homestays. There is no question of the quality of fooding and lodging in these homestays. So stay there without any hesitation.
